Examining the different perspectives presented in the Gospels allows for a richer comprehension of the leadership structure and the transmission of Jesuss teachings. The Gospels, however, do not explicitly designate any single individual as holding the singular title of Jesus’s closest confidant, allowing for various interpretations based on textual analysis and historical context.
